If you are excited to learn a new skill and make something unique and fabulous for your home, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend some creative time in a working studio, either as a one day course or a more in depth four week evening class.
In the four-session workshop, you will learn the basics of screen printing onto fabric, from cutting and printing stencils with paper through to the photographic process of exposing a design onto screen, mixing colours and creating a final printed pattern.
The course will be four evening sessions of 2.5 hours.
You will have the opportunity to sample ideas and refine your own designs as well as having access to any of Helen's patterns and textures to print with.
By the end of the course you will have learned the basics of screen printing and be the proud maker of your very own printed lampshade to take home.
The course is limited to just 3 places so you will have plenty of one-to-one support and time to experiment.
- Week One: Experimental printing with paper stencils, using a variety of papers and sampling ideas. Planning your design.
- Week Two: Mixing and testing colours. Coating screens to be exposed the following week. Continue with sampling.
- Week Three: Exposing design on to screen and combining all techniques to create final printed panel.
- Finalising design/print and making up your lampshade.
The one day session covers the basics of screen printing with paper stencils, with a view to developing a simple one or two colour pattern for your handmade light shade.
Only two places per class. This one day workshop is perfect to attend with a friend or partner to have a fun and creative day together.
No previous experience required but it would be helpful to have some design ideas in mind before you start the class.
Please get in touch if you have any questions before booking a place.
The course will run on either Mondays or Tuesdays depending on demand, other dates can be discussed if required. I'm suggesting a start date on either the 1st or 2nd November.
